Celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2024, Bexley Seabury Seminary is strengthening its commitment to relational ministry. Having developed a bold yet realistic strategic plan, the seminary hired two new team members for its newly reorganized Office of Institutional Advancement.

To be more intentional in cultivating and nurturing its relationships with students, alumni, board, donors, and ministry partners throughout the Episcopal Church, Ash Love has stepped into the role of Director of Institutional Advancement. They bring a wealth of experience, passion, and a unique blend of skills that align perfectly with the school’s mission and vision. Love holds MSW (Master of Social Work) and MDiv (Master of Divinity) degrees, embodying a remarkable fusion of social justice and theological perspectives. With an extensive background in institutional advancement, fundraising, and community engagement, Ash Love’s journey has been driven by a commitment to social justice, education, and creating transformative change. Their unique perspective, honed through their diverse academic journey and professional experiences, will undoubtedly bring fresh insights and innovative strategies to further the seminary’s mission.

It is with profound gratitude and reverence that I embrace the role of Director of Institutional Advancement at Bexley Seabury. As I step into this sacred space, my heart is filled with enthusiasm for the limitless possibilities that lie ahead. My mission is to strengthen bonds, deepen our communal ties, and magnify the transformative impact of our seminary’s work. I am invigorated by the prospect of contributing to this esteemed institution—a beacon in theological education—upholding 200 years of rich legacy of Bexley Seabury while igniting inspiration for the future.

One of Love’s early strategic decisions was to hire Jonathan Silver as Director of Alumni Relations.

Jonathan has a wide range of gifts, especially in communications and philanthropy.  Silver spent his early years in the entertainment industry, where he learned to integrate his diverse skill set in development and storytelling with a passion for cultural & religious studies and public policy. Silver earned a master’s degree from the Gallatin School at New York University. Having most recently served as Director of Development, Alumni, & Church Relations for the General Theological Seminary (GTS) for nearly 12 years, his experience in successfully working with groups of students and alumni amidst changing times and shifting landscapes will serve Bexley Seabury well.

Said the Rev. Dr. Micah T.J. Jackson, President of Bexley Seabury, “I’m thrilled to have appointed Ash Love as our Director of Institutional Advancement and delighted by Ash’s recruitment of Jonathan Silver as our new Director of Alumni Relations. This marks a pivotal moment in our seminary’s growth and development. I’m looking forward to the visionary leadership, innovation, and positive impact Ash and Jonathan will have on our Bexley Seabury community and beyond.”

When asked what they are looking forward to most in their new position, Love replied, “I am deeply honored to have joined the Bexley Seabury community as Director of Institutional Advancement. It is with great enthusiasm I have stepped into this role, where I see boundless opportunities to build bridges, deepen connections, and amplify the impact of our seminary’s transformative work. This is an exciting time for Bexley Seabury as we prepare to celebrate our 200th Anniversary. I am thrilled to collaborate with our incredible team, our alumni, our donors, and all who believe in our vision of education, service, and inspiration.” One of the first initiatives Love and Silver has been working on and would welcome collaboration with interested parties is Bexley Seabury’s 200th Anniversary. The theme is Celebrating Legacy, Inspiring Tomorrow: Honoring 200 Years of Faith and Formation, and a special gala is being planned for October 18, 2024. If you or someone you know is interested in working with Ash and Jonathan to plan an unforgettable evening of celebrating and honoring the seminary’s past, present, and future, please be in touch.

I am deeply honored and grateful to the leadership of Bexley Seabury for this opportunity to continue my journey creating meaningful connections and fostering strong relationships with alums. My mission is to maintain and grow a vibrant and inclusive alumni community, recognizing their diverse journeys and ensuring their voices and experiences enrich each other and their alma mater.
