The Rev. Twyla Jeanne (Williams) Zittle, Seabury Western Class of 2006, died Friday, April 5, 2024 in Fountain, CO.

Born on December 12, 1948 in Colorado Springs to Thomas and Mae (Murray) Williams, Zittle graduated High School from Wasson High School and then received a Bachelors in English from Southern Colorado State College. She began teaching in Pueblo for 5 years and made a major impression on a 7th grader that became like an adopted daughter for life, Dawna Stankus. During her time teaching she received her Masters in Counseling at Adams State College and became the counselor in Rye, CO for 3 years. In 1983, she moved to Alamosa as the Records Evaluator for Adams State College and later became the Registrar for a total of 20 years.

While in Alamosa, she met the love of her life Bill Zittle and they married on May 21, 1988. During their marriage they touched the lives of many students that walked through her door at Adams State College. Bill was the Adams Golf Coach and Allstate Ins Rep until his death in 1998. Zittle made a major life change in 2003 to follow her dream of becoming an Episcopal Priest at Seabury Western. Upon graduation in 2006 she moved to Colorado Springs and was ordained an Episcopal Priest in The Episcopal Church in Colorado serving at St. Raphael’s, Colorado Springs until her retirement in 2021.

She loved living with her mother, Mae, till her passing and serving all people in her church and community. Serving at St. Raphael’s was one of the best times in her life and she loved the people at the church. Her words of wisdom to anyone were “to be loving and caring to those around you and don’t forget to have a sense of humor”.

Twyla Zittle is preceded in death by her husband Bill Zittle, parents Thomas Williams and Mae Knudson, step father Alan Knudson, and Sister-in-law Barbara Williams.

She is survived by her “kids” Gene and Brandi Weinette of Wellington, TX and Dawna Stankus of Eckert, CO. Brothers, Michael Williams of Kodiak, AK and Mark Williams of Colorado Springs, CO and nieces and nephews.

Zittle’s Memorial Service was held at St Raphael’s Episcopal Church, Colorado Springs, on Monday, April 15, 2024.
