Open only to Bexley Seabury MDiv students.
Field Education 1, also known as Field Education Prep, is the first component of the 2.5 year Communities of Learning and Formation program at Bexley Seabury. Field Ed 1 is a non-credit course. Bexley Seabury students remain in their home context, which typically means within their sponsoring diocese. The seminary recognizes that each diocese has its own unique way of handling contextual training which ranges from assigning students to sites determined by the Bishop and COM to allowing students to explore and choose a site with little to know guidance. Most are somewhere in between. Field Ed 1 has two objectives: secure a field education site where you engage in ministry during Field Ed 2 through Field Ed 5, and complete the necessary paperwork so you are ready to hit the ground running at your site in the fall.
