Last fall semester, Bexley Seabury seminarians engaged with The Episcopal Church’s Racial Reconciliation Team to collaborate on the creation of Lent Curricula geared to the theme “Preparing to Become the Beloved Community”.  With the support and assistance of Academic Dean the Rev. Dr. Jason Fout (Seabury Western ’01) and the Very Rev. Dr. John Houghton, the students wrote the program resources for Lent in Year B.

The students were invited to join the project while connecting with Episcopal Church leaders during a summer course on Indigenous Theology taught by the Rev. Canon Mary Crist, Visiting Professor of Education and Indigenous Studies and Indigenous Theological Education Coordinator for The Episcopal Church. Student contributors included Twila Two Bulls, Stephanie McMorris, Laurice Anderson, Julianne Lark, Bart Natoli,  Andrew White, Christina Cernansky, Jessica Clark, Tara Dix Osborne, Sarah Martin, Meghan “Mo” Trimm, Simon Dinglasan, Kevin Lowe, and Quincy Hall; and the Student Editors were Tony Kroll, Anna Baumann, and Samantha Clare.

”It was a privilege to work on these Lenten reflections for the church, and to work with each other in new ways,” said Anna Baumann, MDiv Senior from the Diocese of Lexington, one of the editors. “Folks gave a lot of time and heart to the project.”

The curricula were created by a Church gathering in 2020 focused on three urgent themes – truth, justice, and healing – to build community, craft strategy, and equip each other for action.

The full curricula is available here.
