Student life at Bexley Seabury: The Seminary Beyond Walls

At Bexley Seabury, our community thrives within a digital framework, reinforcing our commitment to an enriching student life and vibrant student organizations, despite geographical distances.

As "The Seminary Beyond Walls," we leverage technology to foster a close-knit community and ensure every student feels an integral part of our seminary.

Digital Community Engagement

Our Digital Chapel meets three times a week, including for Noonday Prayer on Tuesdays, which is open to the wider community. You can learn more about our Tuesday Noonday Prayer chapel schedule and sign up to join us for these gatherings here. These gatherings are essential for spiritual nourishment and community engagement, accessible from anywhere in the world.

Student Representation and Leadership

Student life at Bexley Seabury is dynamic and participatory. Our student representatives not only provide support and advocacy for their peers but also bring student voices to our board meetings, ensuring that their perspectives help shape the future of the seminary. These leaders ensure that student voices are integral to the decision-making processes at our seminary, as well as serve as liasons to the Board of Directors.

Bridging Geographical Distances

We create innovative digital avenues to bridge the gaps caused by physical distances, allowing for meaningful interactions and sustained engagement. Whether through virtual study groups or online spiritual retreats, we make sure everyone is connected and engaged.

Join us at Bexley Seabury Seminary, where your educational and spiritual journey transcends physical boundaries, enriched by a supportive and connected community.

Resources for Students Experiencing Homelessness

Bexley Seabury is committed to supporting students who may be experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness. We recognize that stable housing is essential to student well-being and academic success.

In accordance with Illinois law, the Seminary designates a Housing Opportunities for Students Experiencing Homelessness (HOUSE) Liaison in our Student and Community Engagement Office. The HOUSE Liaison serves as a central point of contact for students who may lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence or who are otherwise facing housing instability.

The HOUSE Liaison can assist students by:

  • Connecting them with appropriate resources and support services

  • Referring them to local, state, and federal programs that provide housing assistance and related services

  • Helping navigate available financial aid and emergency support options

  • Providing individualized guidance in identifying safe and stable housing resources in the community

Students experiencing housing insecurity are encouraged to contact the HOUSE Liaison for confidential support and assistance.
